Record Collector Mag July 17 - "Neil Ardley & The New Jazz Orchestra: On The Radio: BBC Sessions 1971"

Another sensational archival release is On The Radio: BBC Sessions 1971 by NEIL ARDLEY & THE NEW JAZZ ORCHESTRA (**** Dusk Fire).

Comprised of two Beeb recordings, the first contains six kaleidoscopic tunes – including fabulous versions of George Russell’s Stratusphunk and Mike Gibbs’ Tanglewood ’63 – while the second is a 30-minute piece called The Time Flowers, inspired by a JG Ballard story, and juxtaposes horn solos and orchestral string washes with eerie electronic sounds played by Keith Winter.
