Saturday 26 June 2004 : Lady Manners School, Bakewell,
Derbyshire : 7.30 pm
To mark their 25th anniversary, the Bakewell
Choral Society have commissioned Neil Ardley to compose a new choral work that
celebrates song and singing. Called Cantabile and featuring pianist
Gillian Bithel, the first performance will take place at this concert under
conductor Richard Barnes. The choral society will also perform the work with
which they began life 25 years ago: Haydn's Creation.
Summer 2004 : Brentwood
Creation Mass, Neil Ardley's
large choral setting of poems by Patrick Huddie, will be performed by the
Brentwood Choral Society. Strings will be added to the original score for this
performance, in which some of the sections will be narrated by Patrick Huddie.
The programme will also include St Nicholas by Britten.
